Land of Enchantment

June 2005 marked my first summer at Camp Blue Haven, a Christian camp nestled in the Sangre De Cristo mountains in Las Vegas, NM.

That first summer I was stripped away, broken down and completely placed back together. My soul was refined with God's word and for the first time in my 13 years of life I was challenged to take off the mask I was wearing in the church. I left Blue Haven that summer a new Christian, not knowing that God was going to work on me for 8 more years and bring me back up to camp to serve as a counselor.

Now my third summer up at camp as a counselor, I know more growing will continue to happen. Staff training week just finished up and my heart has been transformed. Want to know why? Read all of 1 Peter, the book we will be diving deep into this summer.

The top photo shows one of the most beautiful mountains I have ever seen, Hermit's Peak. Can you see a face? Tilt your head to the left. Want to know what the world looks like at the top of the mountain?

Breathtaking. Every time I am blown away by God's creation, Genesis 1:11 comes to mind.

"Then God said, 'Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.' And it was so. "

God is all powerful and yet, He allowed for this earth to create the beautiful vegetation that surrounds us. This one verse teaches me so much about the God I serve. God has given us free will. What will we do with that? I hope to produce fruit in my life where God can see as good, like the way he saw earth's creation as good.

I couldn't be more excited about what God will unveil to me this summer.
